After a busy month of gigging across the province, I now have a few weeks off from performing to prepare for WhackBamThudd 2025 “Saskatoon Jam | Raw Juicy Rock Beats.”
Saskatoon’s premier drum event, WhackBamThudd, allows local drum students to perform live in concert with a full band of professional players. This year will feature 27 drum students of all ages, each taking the drum throne for a full song.
The mindblowing house band includes my Powerslave co-conspirator Chris Smith alongside Ian Martens on twin lead guitars, and Dean Dynna on bass. The man behind the event, Brad King will also sit in on the drums for a couple of songs as well.
In past years, I’ve hopped up to sing a song or two as a guest, but this year I’m honoured (and a bit terrified) to sing the whole night.
Come out Saturday, June 14, 7pm at The Roxy Theatre to support young drummers performing with a professional band, some for the first time. No tricks, no tracks. Real music, real anxiety and REAL success.
